The stone pans they have always been used, or almost, but they are always the best, or almost. There are different types, such as soapstone or lava stone, and it is important to choose the right material that on the one hand is comfortable but which preserves the properties of the foods that we cook inside. We are so careful maybe to buy organic, healthy ingredients, without dyes or carcinogens, we cannot compromise everything with a stone that does not guarantee the quality of cooking.

The material used for the pans is essential. Paying attention to the fake stone pans, let's see what characteristics those in real stone have. The choice, beyond the stone, almost always falls within the sphere of so-called non-stick materials, which prevent food from sticking to the bottom of the pot during cooking, risking burning and being damaged. That said, they are not all the same and let's see why.

Stone pans

Stone pans are back in fashion especially when it has been the use of Teflon is prohibited because harmful. Today it has been replaced with safer and often more effective materials, perhaps more expensive, but it is worth it.

In addition to stone pans they are also welcome those of ceramic, in this sense, even if they have very different characteristics and ways of use and are unpopular for now stone, lava and soapstone.

Stone pans: characteristics

Saying stone pans is not enough to understand what we are saying because they are there many features which then affect the results.

Including that we want the stone, we know what it is pots suitable for slow and uniform cooking because this material cooks in a healthy and light way and the food cannot burn. There are high or low stone pans, each cooks differently as well as having different capacity, the same is true when you go to vary the diameter of the pan, even if the height does not change, if the "base" of the pan becomes very small, there is a basin effect that is not present with large diameter pans.

Another feature are the handles, a practical detail never to be overlooked, especially if it comes to pots for everyday use and not to be shown at home and then only use the microwave. There are handles of various materials and also detachable, if desired, it depends on us.

Stone pans: advantages

We said that stone pans are among the best but let's see why. They are very practical to use and also easy to wash and keep clean, without being damaged, because they are also long-lived. We can put them in the dishwasher or wash them by hand, at our choice, without fear of damaging them.

We do not save on the pans because we risk encountering some imitation stone pans if we are too far below the average price. Those who cook with stone are sure to preserve the original taste of the dishes, without altering their smell or flavor in any way. It is not at all obvious, so it should be pointed out, it is an exceptional advantage even if you are not a great cook.

In addition to being healthy, cooking is also uniform and there are no dangers whatsoever. In fact, other materials tend to leave residues in the food, or at least there is a risk of this happening, but with stone, we can rule out this hypothesis.

Lava stone pans

The pans in soapstone and volcanic stone they are always stone but they have very different origin, composition and aesthetic and technical characteristics. We cannot speak of one and the other in the same way. In the case of lava stone, in fact, we find in our hands a more porous material than soapstone but both allow a cooking that does not require the addition of oils or fats

Let's focus on the lava stone, it is able to accumulate and retain heat quite a long time over time even when the fire is off, for about half an hour.

Soapstone pans

In the case of the pans soapstone we are facing or have in our hands a material that cannot be treated, unlike the previous one, and that has excellent thermal properties. The soapstone is extremely resistant to high temperatures and preserves the organoleptic properties of the ingredients. The soapstone pans are very green, they allow a non-trivial energy saving by continuing to cook the food contained for several minutes even with the fire off.
